April Tasting Notes

April Flyer Notes – 2021

April showers bring Spring flowers and the flavours of Spring. The cherry blossoms are in bloom to celebrate April and World Malbec Day follows on April 17th..  Please stop by for a visit to see our Spring selection and some of the fantastic selection of Malbecs we have brought in to celebrate.

Adobe Sauvignon Blanc

Organically grown grapes are sourced from Casablanca Valley’s cool climate in Chile which proves ideal for cultivating Sauvignon Blanc.  Clean and fresh with juicy crisp acidity makes this wine a great sunshine sipper. Zingy flavours of grapefruit, lemon and gooseberry with a slight grassiness come through on the palate.

Mezzacorona Rosé

Rose all year round! This Rose originates from the Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy and is produced from the Lagrein grape. Dry, Mid-weight and displaying juicy acidity with floral notes and bounding wild red berry flavours.

Mairena Malbec

Fantastic Malbec from Mendoza bursting with black cherry and ripe plum flavours overlaid with earthy notes and hints of cedar. Medium tannins with a chewy mouthfeel lend support carrying through to a long finish. Great for pairing with heartier meat dishes and stews.

Lopez de Haro Rioja Reserva

Quality Rioja producer using Tempranillo with a dash of Graciano in the blend.

Classic Reserva ageing of 2 years spent mainly in cask adds in the layers of complexity.

The wine shows smooth on the palate with moderate tannins giving way to flavours of tart black cherry, tea, balsamic and sweet vanilla spice.

Sheringham Kazuki Gin

East meets west, as Sheringham incorporates cherry blossom petals from Japan along with yuzu peel then combines them with green tea and flowers from Westholme Tea Farm in Cowichan. A unique experience in the glass. This Gin brought home a Gold for Canada in the World Gin Awards in 2021!

Shelter Point Single Cask Wheat Whisky

We are proud to offer this as an Exclusive in collaboration with Shelter Point Distillery. This single cask wheat whisky is a first to be offered by the distillery. Locally sourced wheat was craft distilled and mellowed for 5 and ½ years in ex-Bourbon casks by the sea. Truly a one of a kind, tasting of spring and sea with hints of salinity and sweet honey.
