5 Dry January Drink Recommendations

Cheers to Dry January - 5 Drink Recommendations

As we welcome 2023 with our family and friends, many in January are going about with different New Year’s resolutions which some people include taking a break from alcohol. Whether you’re doing Dry January because you wish to cut down on your intake or to start off the year in a clean state, you don’t have to be limited to water and juices. The business of non-alcoholic beer, wine, and spirits is booming, with more and more delicious options available. And at JAK’s, we’ve got you covered with 5 non-alcoholic product recommendations!

Noughty Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Rosé

Thomson & Scott produces alcohol-free, organic, and vegan wines that are low in sugar as well as halal. They are also committed to sustainability and profit with purpose.

Their Noughty Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Rosé is one of our favourites. It’s made in stainless steel vats for further de-alcoholization by vacuum distillation. It has a classic rosé colour with a scent of freshly picked berries. With only 4g of sugar per 100 ml, it’s both “noughty” and nice!

OPUS

OPUS is locally produced in North Vancouver, BC and creates fun, premium and accessible non-alcoholic cocktails! We have all three of their flavours: Gin and Tonic, Aperitivo Spritz, and Peach Bellini.

Their award-winning Gin and Tonic is a Spanish style gin and tonic with notes of fresh cucumber, blood orange, lime, and fresh mint leaves. While the Aperitivo Spritz is their take on the European cocktail featuring notes of fresh Seville oranges, grapefruit, rhubarb, aromatic bitters, and sparkling prosecco. Finally, their newest cocktail, Peach Bellini, combines notes of fresh peaches with handcrafted aromatic bitters, spices, herbs, and sparkling prosecco. You can’t go wrong with any of these all-natural ingredients, zero sugar, and zero calorie drinks!

Seedlip Grove 42

Seedlip takes the centuries old practice of distilling herbal remedies using copper stills that physicians used to solve medical maladies in the past. Founder Ben Branson stumbled upon The Art of Distillation, published in 1651, by physician John French, and decided to experiment with distilling herbs grown in his garden at home.

Seedlip’s bespoke six-week maceration, distillation, filtration, and blending process is the result of years of development. Seedlip Grove 42 is a sophisticated, bright, citrus blend of Mediterranean orange, lemon peel, lemongrass, and ginger with a dry finish. Each individual botanical ingredient is distilled separately before blending to achieve a spirit devoid of alcohol and sugar.

Take a sip and create delicious cocktails like Citrus Fizz, Orange Blossom Highball, and a Grove and Tonic!

Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse – Temperance Series

Sea Cider is a farm-based cidery located on the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island. They have a ten-acre farm, home to over 1300 apple trees with over 50 varieties of heirloom apples. Their apples are organically grown and they use a traditional fermentation process for their ciders.

On top of their regular alcoholic series, they have a Temperance line that is non-alcoholic, but just as delicious. Temperance Chérie is a comfort drink that is as warm as a hug on a cold day. Ripe cherry notes mingled with the best of BC apples to create a sparkler with hints of orchard blossoms. A portion of proceeds from their Temperance Series supports wellness programs in Canada!

Edna’s Non-Alcoholic Cocktail Company

Last but not least, we have Edna’s cocktails. They’re a line of non-alcoholic, sparkling cocktails, that are small-batch prepared with all natural juices, shrubs, extracts and oils to create recognized cocktails. There are no artificial flavours, additives or preservatives. They’re great as virgin cocktails as well as mixers.

We can’t pick between their Mojito, Collins, Mule, or Paloma!

Have a great January!
